HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO BEECHES! Even though I’m not Mexican nor of Mexican decent, here’s a brief history of what this beautiful day among the Mexican community is all about, and by me living in Los Angeles where 80% of the population is Mexican/Latin, that means that I’m being picked up and carried away into Margarita Land too!
This is just a brief synopsis:
Cinco de Mayo is a date of great importance for the Mexican and Chicano communities. It marks the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla. Althought the Mexican army was eventually defeated, the “Batalla de Puebla” came to represent a symbol of Mexican unity and patriotism. Especially those from imperialist states bent on world conquest. [Click here to read the rest of history!]
So I’ll be zooming through the streets of L.A. today, hangin’ out here and there, and if you can find me, join me! Have a great day of celebration!
